Social learning in action – Cracker Barrel Event
The Conference Board of Canada has identified social learning as a key channel by which organizations develop their talent and strategize for the future. Social learning happens organically when colleagues share ideas and best practices, and you can also formalize it by building opportunities to network into your project timelines. But how do you make social learning happen when most of your work happens virtually?
This month’s Learn @ Work Week Cracker Barrel event explores this and other key challenges around incorporating social learning into daily practice. Institute for Performance and Learning members and non-members can get acquainted and mingle, enjoy light refreshments, enter prize draws, and share their stories about developing organizational bench strength.
The evening kicks off with a half-hour of mingling and introductions followed by Cracker Barrel Information Sharing, with learning professionals hosting informal table chats. Siena’s own Gayle Farrell will lead a table conversation about how to support learning among contractors who don’t meet regularly.
The event is a great opportunity for a variety of professionals to network, collaborate and share their stories. The cost is $35 for Institute members and $50 for non-members. It happens September 22 at 5:15 at the 3rd Floor UX Classroom, Red Academy (1490 West Broadway).
Hope to see you there! (And remember your business cards for the prize draw!)
